AGE 10-12 BASEBALL TRYOUT INFORMATION:

As our organization constantly evaluates opportunities to improve upon our program, we have re-structured our tryout process this year for those players who are eligible to be drafted to the Majors Division.  In the past we have offered a tryout scenario by which a player stands in line for about 30 minutes waiting his turn to field 4-5 ground balls, 4-5 pop-ups or to take 10-12 swings.

This year, in an effort to make the tryout process more interactive for each player, we have worked with Baseball City of Hartford CT to host what we are calling a tryout/clinic process for the 10, 11 and 12 year old players this year.  This tryout/clinic will consist of two individual sessions on the following dates and times;

·         Fielding – Tryout/Clinic for fielding will take place at Baseball City on Saturday, March 8th from 8:00 am – 10:00 am.  Players should arrive at Baseball City between 7:30 and 7:45 to check in and get a number assignment. (Players will need to bring their baseball glove)

·         Hitting – Tryout/Clinic for hitting will take place at Baseball City on Saturday, March 15th from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.  Players should arrive at Baseball City between 5:30 and 5:45 to check in and get a number assignment.  (Players can bring a bat and helmet if the choose)

In this clinic type format, we will break the kids into small groups and have them rotate through various skills “stations”.  This format will allow for each player to field approximately 30-40 balls and take approximately 120 swings.  The increased number of opportunities for each player coupled with a more “clinic style” approach will provide the players with a more relaxed atmosphere and will also provide the evaluators (Managers/Coaches and others) with better/more opportunities to score each player more accurately on their skill level.  The bottom line on this process is we feel it will help assess each player’s abilities more accurately to insure the players whose skills are the most developed are the ones selected to play at the higher level (Majors).

This process will require your son to be in attendance at both sessions (Saturday the 8th and 15th).  If for any reason your son cannot be in attendance at both tryout/clinic sessions, you must contact Ric Gaudet via email or by phone (numbers below).  You can get directions to the Baseball City complex by going to their website; www.baseballcityct.com
